The Sensible Present for a Loved One Stuck in Addiction

without comments

- Narconon Trois-Rivières Drug Rehabilitation

So, while we are scurrying around trying to find the perfect gift for everyone on our list, the question arises; What do I get for my addicted friend (loved one)? The biggest mistake people make this time of year is ignoring the problem of alcoholism and drug addiction. Denying it, or ignoring it won’t solve the problem. The loved one with the addiction doesn’t “need” money (you know how they’ll spend it). They don’t need a new robe, or a new coffee mug. What they need is help. What better gift to give than a spot in an effective drug treatment center such as Narconon Trois-Rivières? It’s a gift that will always be appreciated in the long run.

Ending the cycle can bring new possibilities to the loved one who is going through addiction. Narconon Trois-Rivières and other effective drug treatment centers provide all of the tools needed to beat the addiction and go on to lead a happy, healthy life. That’s quite a gift! It probably won’t be warmly received at first, but once they have completed the program, they will agree that it is the best gift they have ever gotten; the gift of living life anew. They probably would never expect the gift of effective drug treatment, but it is what is needed.

Happy Holidays!

They don’t need a new robe, or a new coffee mug. What they need is help. What better gift to give than a spot in an effective drug treatment center such as Narconon Trois-Rivières? It’s a gift that will always be appreciated in the long run.

Narconon Trois-Rivieres is Proposing Solutions to Get an Alcoholic to Stop Drinking

without comments

Alcoholism is not something people do just to pass the time. It is something that can begin innocently enough, but then becomes ingrained into the very being of the individual. Instead of the person controlling the alcohol, the alcohol begins controlling the alcoholic. Telling them to “stop drinking” simply is not going to work. You may as well be telling them to stop breathing. Oh, it is possible for them to stop drinking, but it takes a well established and proven program to help them succeed – Narconon Trois-Rivieres says it provides such a program.

In order for someone to stop drinking, they must not only stop the intake of alcohol, but learn what triggers their desire. They must also own up to what their alcoholism has done in their lives, and the lives of loved ones. They must also rid their body completely of alcohol. Finally, they must learn new and better ways to deal with the stressors in their lives. This cannot be accomplished by simply telling them to stop drinking.

Telling someone to stop drinking, along with a firm zero tolerance rules can, however, help lead the alcoholic to treatment. Along with confronting them with their alcoholism, there must be new rules set forth which make it clear that drinking will not be allowed in your home, or in your life. That gives an answer to “or what?” when you tell them to stop drinking. The reasons for them to stop must be clear. If there are no consequences, other than those they are able to deny, there isn’t much motivation to stop drinking.

Simply by telling someone to stop drinking, you are only beating your head against a wall. It may make you feel better saying it, but it won’t be effective unless you back up the words with action. Intervention is not always easy, and it is best to get the advice of trained addiction counselors like the ones found at Narconon Trois-Rivieres, but it can prove successful. Back up the words with zero tolerance and force the alcoholic to see that they are not fooling anyone with their alcoholism or their denial.

Many times, the alcoholic wants to stop drinking, but they don’t know how, or they don’t believe they can. This is part of the alcoholism. They can stop drinking, and often it is loved ones that help them to realize that. Actions speak louder than words, as the saying goes, so backing up “stop drinking” with some serious action may make all the difference in the world.

Narconon Trois-Rivieres Holidays Message -Please, Don’t Drink and Drive

without comments

How often those words are spoken, and yet so many times they are just dismissed. Sadly, it sometimes takes a personal tragedy to make these words seem important. There would, realistically be far less tragedy if people would only heed the words; Please don’t drink and drive. Drinking and driving causes a staggering loss of life, not to mention some life altering injuries.

Holidays and social gatherings go together. If only more people would realize that they can be just as fun, just as joyous, without alcohol. Drunk driving causes more deaths during the holidays than any time throughout the year. No one is more aware of this than Narconon Trois-Rivieres, which has an excellent alcohol rehab program. Sadly, too many people wait until the damage is done to seek treatment. Drinking, drinking and driving, and fatal accidents all go together. Sometimes, the person drinking isn’t even the one driving. Many pedestrians are killed as well while under the influence of alcohol.

Drinking and driving is literally a game of roulette. No one ever thinks they are too impaired to drive when they have been drinking, but the results are devastating. Many times, the survivor, the one who has been drinking and driving, must live with the consequences for the rest of their lives. Taking another human life is not something that anyone takes lightly. Narconon Trois-Rivieres is there to help. Sometimes, just calling and getting straight answers is all someone needs to get help.

“Please, don’t drink and drive”. These are five simple words that can save so very many lives and prevent so many useless deaths. Drinking and driving are a deadly combination. If you do drink, please have someone else drive. Many taxi companies offer free rides home during the holiday season for people who have been drinking. It certainly is worth checking into! Even if you must foot the bill, $20 is a small price to pay to know that lives may have been saved.

Everyone should be on the lookout for those who have been drinking and driving. Devastation can happen in the blink of an eye. It is best to do a lot of defensive driving, especially during the holidays when people are drinking and driving. Don’t let yourself become another statistic. If you drink, don’t drive. If you will be driving, don’t drink. It’s simple, really.

Narconon Trois-Rivieres Hits Home with New Drinking and Driving PSA

without comments

Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada – The holiday season can bring wonderful times with many celebrations to be had, family and friends all coming together.  For the staff at Narconon Trois-Rivieres this time of year especially is all about helping those suffering from drug and alcohol addictions, and part of this is effective drug and alcohol education.  “With this new PSA we wanted people to see not only the good the holiday season can bring, but also the devastating impact drinking and driving can have on the individual and their loved ones,” commented JF Dubreuil, Director of Promotion and Marketing at Narconon Trois-Rivieres.

Drinking and driving impacts people all over the world and can tend to be even more devastating around this time of year.  The consequences when caught driving under the influence are quite severe, and when another person is hurt or even killed because of it, everyone’s life is flipped upside down.  “Unfortunately this is a very real part of alcohol addiction,” said Mr. Dubreuil. “It does not take much to affect your ability to operate a vehicle and make rational decisions.  Our counsellors here speak with families every day looking to help a loved one whom is addicted to alcohol.”

Narconon Trois-Rivieres offers a very extensive and in-depth alcohol and drug treatment program and in some cases people have been sent there because of a drinking and driving charge.  The staff works hard to help these individuals regain control of their lives again, and through PSA’s like this one, hope to help prevent people from drinking and driving in the first place.  “We want everyone to have a very safe and happy holidays, and don’t drink and drive,” added Mr. Dubreuil.  “It doesn’t take much to take a cab, call a friend, or even stay the night, but please, for the sake of your family and friends, don’t get behind the wheel after drinking.”   For more information about the Narconon Trois-Rivières alcohol and drug rehab program, please call 1-877-782-7409 or visit their website at http://narconon.ca/.

The Different Ways Narconon and other Rehabilitation Centers Save Lives

without comments

NARCONON TROIS-RIVIERES, Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada: When people go to a Narconon rehab center or any other rehabilitation center, it usually means they have hit a point in their lives where things can’t get much worse. Unfortunately, there are many who still avoid getting help even when their world has turned upside down. If only they would realize that going to a rehab center can save their lives, in more ways than one.

There were 11,773 drunken driving deaths in 2008. In Canada 33.8% of motor vehicle deaths were associated with alcohol use. All of these could have been prevented if a rehabilitation center would have been utilized. Drunk driving is one of the leading causes of death around the world.

Deaths caused by cirrhosis of the liver and other ailments due to alcoholism increase every year. Pancreatitis is also a contributing factor in many alcohol related deaths. Repression of the respiratory system is a major cause of death for drug addicts, especially those who use drugs such as Oxycontin and Oxycodone. These deaths also can be prevented by seeking help from a rehabilitation center.

In the United States alone, prescription drugs cause most of the more than 26,000 fatal overdoses each year. Add that to the number of illicit drug users overdose statistics and you up to nearly 60,000 a year. Those are 60,000 people that could have lived had they gone to a drug rehabilitation center.

Pregnancies of drug and alcohol users many times end in spontaneous abortions or serious, life threatening illnesses to the fetus or newly born child. Innocent lives have been taken as a result of drugs and alcohol.

Rehabilitation centers not only prevent actual lives from being taken, but they also can affect the quality of lives people live. A person does not have to die to have the essence of their lives taken away. Drug and alcohol addiction causes people to lose their jobs, families, friends, and much more. In a sense, there are many people still living who have no lives due to addiction. Rehabilitation centers can help them to get their lives back. They can help addicts learn to resist the temptations and use techniques to live life without drugs and/or alcohol.

Rehabilitation centers such as those in the Narconon network help to save lives not only in the literal sense, but by saving the quality of lives too. The time to get help is now. It could save your life and it could save the lives of many others. Rehabilitation can improve your quality of life and the number of years you may have left on this earth.

For more information about the Narconon drug rehabilitation program you may call Narconon Trois-Rivieres at 1-877-782-7409.

Happy Birthday Narconon.ca/Blog!

with one comment

On April 16th, 2009 a brand new addition was made to the Narconon.ca site. It was a bouncing baby blog. One year later, the blog has grown by leaps and bounds and is a place that is visited by not only those seeking help, but those who have already received it.

To date, there are 280 posts on the blog and it is visited by approximately 250 people per day. There are also 250 comments on the blog. The Narconon.ca blog continues to be a happy addition to the website dedicated to helping those who wish to live drug and alcohol free. It proves to be an outlet for expressing thoughts and ideas as well as practical and helpful information. There are stories by those who have been addicted and by loved ones of someone who is addicted. The blog proves that someone with an addiction is not alone. Many people have come through it and gone on to live happier lives.

The blog covers all drugs and alcohol and gives practical information on what the drug or alcohol does to a body and what happens when someone tries to quit. There are also stories from loved ones who have suffered right along with the addict. Some of the stories have happy endings and some are not so happy.

If you haven’t checked out the Narconon.ca blog lately, stop by. Giving a birthday present of your time and attention would be much appreciated, and more than likely, very beneficial to the reader. There is information that most people, whether addicted or not, would find interesting.

More and more stories and useful information is being added on a regular basis. Maybe you could be a contributor too. Narconon is always happy to hear from someone who is living drug free and would like backlinks to their own site. More information is, of course, on the blog.

Our little blog has come a long way in its one year of existence and we hope to see the growth (and health) of not only the blog, but those who read it and contribute to it. Information shared can be of great value to people who are just now going through something. Drug and alcohol addiction cases are rising and Narconon and the Narconon.ca blog are there to help bring those numbers down. Find out the facts about drug and/or alcohol addiction and what the best way is to treat them.

Beating a Drug Addiction – Like an Olympic Champion

without comments

Trois-Rivières, Québec; over a decade has passed since this drug addicted fellow has started to hide his addiction from his loved ones. Taking potent drugs like Oxycontin every day to get high is not something he wanted to share with his wife or his teenage daughter.

Vancouver, Canada; four days into the 2010 Winter Olympic games, the athletes from Canada have won 5 medals, placing their country in the fourth position of the number of medals won, just behind France.

While the Vancouver Olympic games are being played amongst 2600 athletes, attended by over 2.3 million attendees, enjoyed and talked about by many more, there is another type of competition which is going on not only in Vancouver but around the world. This is a battle involving too many participants and to which no one would bother to pay tickets to see – the struggle between substance addiction and drug-free life.

Not unlike an athlete who trains for several years to finally place to compete at the Olympics and achieve the ultimate gold, it takes an unshakeable determination to achieve a drug-free life for a person who is battling drug addiction.

A new proud winner has just celebrated his one year clean victory after having defeated his decade long Oxycontin addiction with the help of the Narconon Program at Trois-Rivières, Canada.  For his one-year drug-free anniversary victory lap, Cliff Van Rossum insisted to fly all the way from Vancouver to attend the weekly Narconon Trois-Rivières graduation. “Wow! One year. It’s been a struggle, I did it though, and I’m sure all of you guys can do the same thing,” Cliff told the students currently enrolled on the drug rehab program. He added, “Today is a big day for me, I wanted to come here for this because it meant so much for me. Narconon has saved my life.”

Narconon Trois-Rivières has prepared a short video featuring Cliff at the podium for his one year clean win and it can be watched by all drug-free life fans and supporters on the youtube channel “narconon3r”.

Many more people are still fighting the battle, but assistance is available to bring about the ultimate victory, just dial 1-877-782-7409.

Holiday Freedom Fighters Partake in Narconon Extravaganza

without comments

Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada – “Awesome to see those who got me through my own program, and congrats to those there now facing their issues. Happy Holidays Narconon!” commented a viewer of the Narconon Holiday Extravaganza.  With a full audience and people watching over the internet, this particular holiday special turned out to be quite the event.  It had a very festive opening with French Canadian singer Lea Morganne singing, Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree, while being backed up by the Narconon choir.  “The talent that young lady has is incredible and she really started the show off right,” said Marc Bernard the executive director of Narconon Trois-Rivieres.

These live graduations hosted by this Narconon in Canada are done no where else throughout the Narconon network.  “It was great to be able to provide an exciting way for graduates and students of the program to pass along holiday wishes to their loved ones who were watching at home,” commented Bernard.  The holiday season can be tough for individuals who are battling drug and alcohol addiction, and many addicts never really see any hope that sobriety is possible.  The Narconon drug rehab program in Canada plans to continue to broadcast special live graduations a few times a year.

“It was an absolute pleasure to MC the event and be part of a special holiday gift for everybody,” said Marc.  The show ended off quite emotionally with Lea Morganne singing a beautiful rendition of Halleluiah.  The musical talent combined with the inspirational speeches, and of course the graduates, which are the real reason Narconon host graduations, all made this holiday extravaganza something to remember.  To watch the recorded live graduation you can visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRXDTkTCIJ8

‘Hillbilly Heroin’ Doesn’t Beat this Narconon Graduate

without comments

Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada – “I got into a car accident and they took me out with the Jaws of Life – in the hospital they gave me Tylenol 3, but it wasn’t enough,” stated Cliff Van Rossum in a new video interview with Narconon Trois-Rivieres.  Like many others in his position who became addicted to OxyContin, it typically starts out with some form of injury requiring pain management.  Unfortunately, many of these individuals become physically and psychologically dependent to OxyContin.  “It’s becoming an all to common scenario throughout Canada right now – our Intake Counsellors receive calls everyday from OxyContin addicts looking for ways to get off the drug,” commented Nick Hayes, a certified chemical dependency counsellor with Narconon Trois-Rivieres.  “The typical scenario is a person will require these drugs for pain management, but will ignore the Doctors advice about there addictive potential,” said Hayes.

In this in-depth interview Cliff takes the viewer step by step, beginning at his car accident and going on to how he started to ‘doctor shop’ to acquire his prescriptions for OxyContin.  He describes in great detail the initial high and feeling he got from taking Percocet and how eventually he needed something stronger from his doctor, which was later OxyContin.  “It was a feel good feeling, like something I never experienced before,” stated Cliff in the interview.  Because OxyContin is a time-release formula over twelve hours, most addicts will have to chew, crush up and snort, or inject the drug to get the immediate euphoric effect of the Oxycodone, which is the primary pain reliever in OxyContin.

Cliff is one of the many people today who has successfully beaten a potentially deadly OxyContin addiction and has gone on to live a drug free life.  Today Cliff is now working his full time job, but has created a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center referral website, http://www.substanceabusecounselor.net/ that specifically helps addicts find the right treatment options.  For more information about drug or alcohol addiction, Narconon Trois-Rivieres can be reached at 1-877-782-7409.
